Vintage & Used Gear

One of each. When it's gone, it's gone.

Everything on this page is the actual piece in our Peterborough store, shown in our own photos. Each listing has our own notes on it, like the year, condition or history, and if it doesn't answer your question, ask us. Used and vintage guitars are inspected and set up by our store staff before they're sold or shipped. Want to play it first? Call (705) 876-8160 and we'll have it ready.

1955 Martin D-28, Brazilian rosewood

$21,995.00 CAD

From our listing: a 1955 Martin D-28 with Brazilian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce top, and an ebony bridge and fingerboard. Its owner bought it in 1960, and it has been very well taken care of.

All original, including the Kluson Super Waffleback tuners, and it has never had a neck reset. It has just had a good once-over by a very experienced and respected Martin warranty tech.

4.7 from 387 Google reviews(as of September 2026, Google Maps)

I recently purchased a guitar from Maar's Music and I can honestly say it was one of the best customer experiences I've ever had.

I love the guitar, but honestly, the experience left such a lasting impression that I'm already looking for an excuse to buy another one. If you're in the Peterborough area and need anything music-related, do yourself a favour and visit Maar's. You won't regret it. I cannot say enough about this fantastic store.

Buying used from Maar's Music

How do I know what condition it's in?

Each listing has our own photos of the actual piece and our notes on it, like the year, condition or history. If something isn't covered, call (705) 876-8160 or chat and we can send more photos. Some pieces are kept in our storage rooms rather than on the sales floor, so call ahead if you'd like to see one.

Are used guitars set up?

Yes. All guitars, new and used, are kept in humidity-controlled conditions and are inspected and set up by our store staff before they're sold or shipped. Keys, synths and amps are sold as described in their listings; if a piece has been serviced, the listing says so.

Do you ship used gear?

Yes, within Canada only. Some large or high-value pieces are local pickup only or local pickup preferred, and some need extra shipping charges; the listing says so, so please check it or ask us before you order. See our shipping policy for details.

What is your return policy?

If an item has a manufacturing flaw that makes it unusable, contact us within 7 days. Returns for any other reason are possible with return shipping paid by you and a 15% restocking fee; the item must be in “as received” condition with all original packing materials. Used and consignment items may not be returnable. Full details: refund policy.

Do you take trade-ins or sell gear on consignment?

Yes. Maar's Music takes trade-ins and offers consignment. Bring your gear in, or send photos with the make, model, year if you know it, and condition, and we'll make you an offer or talk consignment. Call (705) 876-8160, use the chat, or email sales@maarsmusic.com.

Can I try it in the store?

Yes. Visit us at 869 Chemong Road, Unit 21, Peterborough. Call (705) 876-8160 first so we can make sure it's out and ready for you.
