Collection: Washburn Guitars

Authorized Washburn dealer, and a long-time one

Washburn has been making stringed instruments since 1883, when it started in Chicago, and still makes guitars, banjos and mandolins. We've been a Washburn dealer for a long time, and we still keep acoustics, electro-acoustics, banjos and mandolins in our Peterborough store. Every Washburn guitar here is inspected and set up by our tech before it ships.

An American original, since 1883

More than 140 years of Washburn, in Washburn's own words, in six quick facts.

  1. 1883 Chicago

Washburn began in Chicago as a partnership between George Washburn Lyon and Patrick Healy, making quality instruments priced for home musicians.

  2. 1889 Mandolins

By Washburn's account, it became the largest mandolin maker in America.

  3. 1912 The Lakeside Jumbo

Washburn releases the Lakeside Jumbo, which it calls the first dreadnought guitar.

  4. 1930 Solo Deluxe

Washburn merges with Tonk Brothers and releases the Solo Deluxe, which Washburn describes as the precursor of the auditorium-style guitar.

  5. 1970s–90s Wing and Festival

The Wing series brings Washburn's first electric models in the 1970s, and in the 80s and 90s the Festival acoustic-electrics are part of the rise of "unplugged" performances.

  6. Today Guitars, banjos, mandolins

Still making guitars, banjos and mandolins, with the Americana line for banjo and mandolin players.

Perfect. I was a little worried shipping an acoustic guitar across the country but the guys at Maar's took the initiative to swap out the standard box for a Martin box as they thought it would handle the trip better.
Arrived on schedule, in pristine condition, and came out of the box in tune. Can't beat that)

Ryan Y. Bought: Washburn Bella Tono Studio 9 Electric Acoustic in Charcoal Burst 5/5 · May 14, 2025 · Reverb

bought an amplifier recently, I'm located in Vancouver area. Seamless purchase via website. Edwin contacted me immediately to advise that it wasn't available due to a stock error, but offered me a reasonable option or to wait for new stock. I chose to wait, but had the amp in my hands within 2 weeks along with 2 sets of complimentary guitar strings. Edwin's customer service and communication were outstanding. He took ownership and kept me informed throughout. Highly recommend this business!

Maar's Music is phenomenal to deal with. Very quick communication was made throughout the entire process. They saw an opportunity, and two employees hand delivered my item because they wanted to ensure it was taken care of. Every part of the process was flawless, and I will be ordering from them again. Can't recommend Maar's enough.
